Dixie is our first Kerry Bog and the one that helped us ignite our Bog breeding flame. Her parents were our personal favorites; her mother is such a beautiful, gentle soul and her sire is so people friendly and intelligent that he won us over on the first meet. I knew Dixie even before she was born; and when we saw pictures of her for the first time, my mother and I were drawn to her like moths to a flame. When we met her in person, she stole our hearts! At 15 months old, we decided to purchase her and bring her home to Michigan with the idea of her being our leading mare in starting our Kerry Bog breeding program. She also has the highest honor of being the very first Kerry Bog in the Great Lakes State!

Dixie is our little cutie. She loves nothing more than to be cuddled and loved on, and always puts her little nose to our cheeks like she’s giving us a kiss! And another thing that captivates us is her beautiful paint markings. The one on her rear reminds me of a bull’s head, which I found so amusing since her zodiac sign is Taurus the Bull! Dixie is highly intelligent, and has that likeable "pocket pony" personality, which has allowed her to make friends with people and all the mares in the herd.

Dixie is still a young broodmare, but so far she has been a great mama! She is also quite capable of producing get that have her stamp written on them. Her first foal, Silverlight Unexpected Arrival not only resembles Dixie, but has good conformation and an amazing temperament.

Dixie is by the foundation stallion, The Spotted Badger, whom is the contributor of her gorgeous paint gene. Her dam, Fox’s Lick, is a daughter of Flashy Fox. Dixie’s maternal grand dam, The Old Brown Sod, is also a foundation mare, but is now deceased. She left behind a few foals and a rare line of foundation blood, which Dixie has. This particular cross has produced foals of outstanding conformation, excellent temperament, and eye-catching flash. Dixie's full brother, Jacob of the Bog has won countless ribbons over in England and has been a great ambassador for the Kerry Bog Pony.
