I have had the highest privilege to obtain this beautiful mare in the fall of 2009. Earlier that spring, I took my first broodmare, Vicki to breed her to a beautiful Lippitt stallion named Bloomer. Unfortunately, Bloomer became sterile and Vicki was no longer a viable broodmare. I spent months sulking over it until the opportunity came where I got the opportunity to purchase my favorite Bloomer foal. I just couldn’t say no and I brought her home on October 9th.
Joy is a stunning liver chestnut with an amazing personality. She is loving, talktative, and affectionate. She actually leans in to you to have her belly scratched... it's like having a giant dog. Consequently, it makes most people nervous- you're normally supposed to run away if a horse starts backing its rear end into you, but not with this one! And she's a beauty to watch out in the pasture whenever she kicks up her heels and flags her tail with the rest of the herd.
Joy is the “Bloomer baby” that I was after. I had high hopes for her career as a broodmare, but due to my life taking me in the direction of giving up my dream for Lippitt breeding, she had become my loveable pet and riding companion, as well as Vicki's favorite pasture buddy. I do intend to breed her at least once, just not right now. She has a forever home in my barn and in my heart.
